The Greek domestic
Air service is operated by three airlines(some fly the same
routes). Aegean Airlines( en.AegeanAir.com),
Athens Airways( AthensAirways.com)
and Olympic (Olympicair.com
).
I've flown Aegean
Airlines and they are a very good airline with well maintained
and new aircraft with a very professional crew. I usually
look to fly them first.
Olympic Airways
uses older aircraft and its employees can be a little(and
sometimes more) abrasive. They have recently been privatized
so there may be a change in attitude so we'll have to see.
Athens Air is the
new airline but I have no personal experience with them.....
Olympic Airlines
flies to many of the Greek Islands, including Santorini, Mykonos,
Corfu, Rhodes, Mytilini(Lesvos), Crete- Chania and Heraklion,
Paros, Samos Leros and many more. If you are traveling back
to Athens to catch a flight back to the US(or anywhere else
in the world), I would recommend arriving in Athens at least
one day early as strikes and/or bad weather could delay your
flight back to Athens.
I usually recommend
that visitors spend the last days of their trip exploring
Athens to ensure that they do not miss their return flight.
